Younger students will love exploring the arts with this game that features beloved stories, movies, ballet, and performances of the Christmas season! Full of fun examples and videos, this game is the perfect addition to your class during the busy holiday season. Students will love guessing the answers to fun trivia questions geared specifically toward Pre-k through Second Grade. This game would be perfect during the holidays, as a class reward, or to incorporate as part of a lesson when there is a sub.
*Updated to include a digital version, along with the PowerPoint! Please note that the digital version of this game does NOT have an automated scoreboard, due to limitations of the digital format- students will need a pencil/paper to record their scores. The included PowerPoint version does have an automated scoreboard. To use the digital version, just click on the link included in the attached PDF after purchase, or copy and paste the link to share with your students.
The length of this game is very versatile – you can play only the jeopardy portion, or you can also show the included 20 bonus videos. The videos go with each correct answer to the question, and are a great extension of learning (for example, students may know that gingerbread is used to build gingerbread houses, but do they know where that tradition came from? Watch the fun video to find out! Your students may guess that Tchaikovsky composed the music for The Nutcracker, and not Big Bird (a humorous wrong answer!) but have they seen an orchestra perform it? Watch the video to see and hear it!).
Group your students into four teams, and watch the fun happen! Cute and funny monsters represent each team, and scores update automatically when you click the monsters’ score buttons (check mark for correct, x for incorrect). After 30 seconds of no response, a funny buzzer sound automatically sounds! Sound effects also coordinate with the correct and incorrect responses- clicking on the check mark plays a ‘crowd cheering’ sound, and clicking on the x plays a ‘blooper’ sound. Sure to generate laughs as your students learn about all things Christmas!
Students can choose from the following five categories and learn about:
Treats (hot Chocolate, candy canes, gingerbread, fruitcake)
Songs (Santa Clause is Coming to Town, Jingle Bells, Frosty the Snowman, We Wish You a Merry Christmas)
Movies (Polar Express, Frozen, Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmas, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas)
The Nutcracker (ballet, Tchiakovsky, celesta, nutcracker)
Stories (A Christmas Carol, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas, Hansel and Gretel, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer)
PowerPoint (compatible with both Mac and Windows Computers)
Notes on function:
-Please be sure to enable macros and editing otherwise the scoreboard feature will not update automatically.
-Make sure to view file as a presentation- this will allow you to interact with the file and for all the animations and sounds to work!
